It is with heavy hearts that we report the passing of the former Member of Parliament for the Bantama constituency in Kumasi, Daniel Okyem Aboagye. The news was confirmed by the Minister of Parliament Affairs and Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who also represents the Suame constituency. Mr. Aboagye’s contributions to politics and his community will be remembered by many.

Daniel Okyem Aboagye served as the Member of Parliament for Bantama, one of the largest constituencies in Kumasi, from January 7, 2017, to January 6, 2021. During his time in office, he worked tirelessly to represent the interests of his constituents and make a positive impact on their lives.

His journey in politics saw its share of challenges, as he sought re-election for a second term in the 2020 election. Unfortunately, he was defeated by Asenso Boakye during the NPP primary, marking the end of his tenure as the MP for Bantama. Despite this setback, Aboagye’s dedication to public service never wavered.

Daniel Okyem Aboagye’s entry into politics was marked by his victory over Henry Kwabena Kokofu, who had previously served as the MP for Bantama from January 7, 2014, to January 6, 2017. Kokofu was seeking a second term, but Aboagye’s successful campaign saw him secure the support of the constituents.

Beyond his role as a parliamentarian, Daniel Okyem Aboagye was a businessman with a keen interest in economic matters. Following his one-term stint in Parliament, he transitioned into the role of a spokesperson for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on economic issues. His insights and dedication to addressing economic challenges made him a valuable asset to the party.

Throughout his political career, Aboagye’s commitment to improving the lives of the people he served remained unwavering. His passing leaves a void in the political landscape of Bantama constituency and Kumasi as a whole. He will be remembered for his contributions to the community and his advocacy for economic development.

As we mourn the loss of Daniel Okyem Aboagye, let us also celebrate his legacy and the positive impact he made on the lives of many. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, friends, and all those who knew and worked alongside him in his journey of public service.
