Sarkodie Can’t Speak Against Akuffo Addo & NPP Due to Financial Ties – Kevin Taylor

Kevin Taylor, a prominent Ghanaian commentator and critic, has made startling allegations against renowned musician Sarkodie. Taylor claims that Sarkodie’s hesitance to criticize the current government is rooted in his family’s alleged financial dependence on it. These explosive accusations have sent shockwaves throughout the Ghanaian entertainment and political spheres.

Moreover, Taylor went on to assert that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government had supposedly aided Sarkodie in illicit activities, including drug smuggling through Kotoka International Airport. This alleged involvement has purportedly led to Sarkodie’s name being placed on a watchlist. These claims have raised eyebrows and drawn significant attention from the public.

Taylor didn’t stop there. He insinuated that Sarkodie possesses an in-depth knowledge of corruption and misconduct within the country but has chosen to remain silent, possibly due to his perceived ties to the government. These allegations come in the wake of Sarkodie’s recent tweet concerning the brutal treatment of peaceful protesters by the Ghana Police Service.

The protest, known as “Occupy Julorbi House,” occurred on Thursday, September 21, 2023. It was aimed at drawing attention to various concerns within the country. Regrettably, the peaceful demonstration escalated, with police arresting protesters and using force, even against journalist Bridget Otoo. This incident has led to widespread condemnation of the government’s handling of the situation, with many celebrities, including Sarkodie, expressing their disapproval.

Sarkodie’s tweet, which read, “You can only be scared of a peaceful protest when you know you deserve otherwise,” was met with mixed reactions on social media. Some users accused him of hypocrisy, suggesting that he would have been more vocal if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were in power.

Sarkodie, being a prominent figure in the Ghanaian entertainment industry, has a substantial influence on the public discourse. As such, any allegations of financial ties to the government and involvement in illicit activities can significantly impact his reputation and credibility.

It is important to note that these allegations are as yet unproven and should be treated with caution. Sarkodie has not responded to the accusations made by Kevin Taylor, leaving the public in suspense regarding his stance on these issues.

In the midst of this controversy, it remains essential for Ghana’s citizens to continue advocating for transparency, justice, and accountability in their government. The events surrounding “Occupy Julorbi House” serve as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding the right to peaceful protest and freedom of expression in a democratic society.
