iPhone 15 Series Camera Specifications Leaked: Apple to Introduce Glass-Plastic Hybrid Lens

As the world eagerly awaits the debut of Apple’s next-generation smartphone models, the iPhone 15 series, camera enthusiasts have reason to be excited. Recently, a prominent Twitter tipster, RGcloudS (@RGcloudS), known for leaking details about Android smartphones in the past, has now disclosed some intriguing information about the camera specifications of the upcoming iPhone 15 lineup.

One of the most notable changes in the iPhone 15 series is the rumored replacement of the current moulded plastic lens setup on the primary camera with a cutting-edge glass-plastic hybrid lens. This advancement in lens technology is expected to set the iPhone 15 apart from its predecessors and other smartphones in the market. While some smartphone manufacturers, like Xiaomi, have offered hybrid lens designs on their smartphones sold in China, Apple is likely to be one of the first companies to introduce this feature globally.

According to the leak from RGcloudS, the primary camera on the iPhone 15 series will feature a hybrid lens consisting of one glass element and six plastic elements. This design is a notable departure from the iPhone 14 series, which featured a primary camera with seven plastic lenses. The adoption of a glass-plastic hybrid lens is likely to enhance the camera’s optical capabilities, leading to improved image quality and better low-light performance.

Moreover, the primary camera on the iPhone 15 series is expected to boast a 48-megapixel Sony IMX sensor with an f/1.7 aperture. Compared to the f/1.79 aperture found in last year’s iPhone 14 Pro series, this wider aperture allows the iPhone 15 to capture up to 20 percent more light, resulting in better color reproduction and enhanced low-light photography.

While Apple has not officially announced the launch of the iPhone 15 lineup, RGcloudS has further revealed details about the purported iPhone 16 Pro Max or iPhone 16 Ultra, which is expected to follow the iPhone 15 series. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is rumored to be equipped with an even more advanced hybrid lens design, comprising two glass elements and six plastic elements, for its primary camera. Additionally, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is also said to feature a periscope camera setup, enabling improved zoom performance for users.

Regarding other camera components in the iPhone 15 series, the ultra-wide-angle and telephoto cameras are rumored to sport hybrid lenses with seven and six elements, respectively. Furthermore, speculations suggest that the iPhone 15 Pro Max could be equipped with a larger 48-megapixel Sony sensor for its primary camera, further enhancing its photography capabilities.

In addition to the camera upgrades, RGcloudS previously hinted at the inclusion of stacked battery technology in the iPhone 15 lineup, enabling support for 40W wired charging and 20W wireless (MagSafe) charging. However, it is now clarified that this new battery technology might be reserved for next year’s iPhone 16 series, promising an even faster charging rate compared to existing iPhone models.

As with all leaks, it’s essential to take this information with a grain of salt until Apple officially unveils its iPhone 15 series. If these leaks turn out to be accurate, Apple enthusiasts can look forward to significant improvements in camera technology, setting new benchmarks for smartphone photography and cementing the iPhone’s position as a leading contender in the highly competitive smartphone market.
